Roach Motel Barber

So I had to run errands today so I left work at 3pm. On the way home (thru the hell known as Shibuya and the infamous hachiko (8-corners) crosswalk) I stopped by this random barber shop. Haircuts are an issue because I like to get my hair cut every 2-3 weeks, and cheap haircuts are hard to find. So I alternate between the rare cheap ones and regular ones. Note, the regular ones are really nice. Top notch service.

This cheap one I went to was $18 but included a cut, shampoo, and straight razor shave! Wow, it was great. Makes the "Art of Shave" experience feel like a sham. The one ultra big caveat that makes me think I may not go back... is that it is an unclean operation (esp for hygienic japan). They don't seem to clean the equipment between users. They wipe the comb w/ their towel, but don't dip it in antiseptic, etc. Same w/ hairbrushes... thus I had a filthy feeling of sharing combs w/ old greasy japanese businessmen.... ewwww.

I had some sushi on the way home. Sushi is remarkably cheap if you don't go high end. I had 4 pieces of toro, 2 maguro, 2 aji, 2 sanma, 2 salmon, 2 uni, miso soup and it was only $25! No Tip!! Wow... see kids Tokyo ain't that bad. Vic and I ate mexican at an Ebisu grill Sunday and it was only $15 / person. Just like SF, you can easily spend $200/person, but u can also eat reasonably.

At home I started the laundry w/ my new all-in-one W/D. You put the clothes in and a painstaking 3.5hrs later it is washed and dried. Jesus christ.. it takes sooooo long. I don't know how I can ever do laundry given how long it takes! I guess I will have to learn how to set the timer so it finishes when I get home. Still not sure how the AC/Heater works.

I have a date tomorrow night w/ this girl who worked for the housing agency I used. I think she was pretty cute, we'll see. I have this problem of meeting a girl for the 1st time and not remember what she really looked like. Haha, makes for an interesting time when I see them again.

Getting into my own apt is great (paying rent not so great). It finally gives me the feeling of being at home. For some reason the luxury apt I was in didn't feel like home (despite the outrageous going rate of $4k/month). Maybe its the presence of my old furniture in my new apt etc? Or is it simply that I am now at "home" or is it that this place feels more like a home? I am liking the layout more and more. It is a bit narrow but the overall feel is cool. I have to say though I made a big computational error in moving all my junk. After living out of a suitcase for 1.5 months I realize that I was fine w/o all my junk (although I needed shoes badly).

Damn already midnight....... time is flying by.
