So theres this dude I met 10 years ago at Bodacle that is visiting tokyo. He's actually quite an annoying guy and most people hate due to some personality disorders or something but I feel compelled to meet w/ him one day because he helped me get an internship long ago when it would have otherwise been almost impossible.
So anyways it turns out he's visiting to meet a japanese wife! Apparently he has like 10 girls lined up that he wants to visit and meet all with the thought of potential marriage -- all in a 2 week span. So bizzare... hey, don't get me wrong, I'm here and may meet a wife here too, but geez i am here living life and i speak japanese. For a total foreigner to think they can fly out here, meet for a day or two, e-mail, and get married.. that is soooo whacko to me. But alas it can happen just not sure if they are prepared for the reality of the situation. But he was a loser in the US so I'm not surprised. Heck even guys didn't like him, no way a girl would! Haha.
At tennis I met a white dude who came to Tokyo but for work. He hooked up quick and has had a J-girl so we were talking about how the dating scene is for foreigners. He said at the bars you see ugly old goofy weird guys hitting on the hottest chicks. In NY they would be so embarrassed and would never even try, but here.. it happens.
Also if I didn't mention it before the phone # game is so different. In Tokyo the girls are so polite that if you are talking to them for more than 4min or know them thru friends they will give out their digits if you ask, however it is meaningless. They just don't know a polite way to refuse so they give it, email as well, and just never respond when you call. Yep thats the word on the street! I typically only ask for digits if it is feeling really good so my hit rate is higher. I should just roll the dice more though.
The tennis guy also noted the truth of any non-3rd world country which is that any hot girl is a tough catch no matter where you are. SF, London, Tokyo, etc. They know they are hot and they ain't giving it up to just any schmo. Its an interesting thing to be a hot girl, some people should do their PhD in sociology on how different life is for a hot vs non-hot girl. People have done some analysis/experiments on it, but it is quite obvious that a hot girl has a bizzarely different life all because they are hot! Alas life isn't fair, just play the cards you got!
Man I drink so much beer nowadays.... its horrible.
